The Cameroon Rugby League XIII Association held a press conference today, 23rd April 2021, dubbed 'The  Lauréane Biville Tournament Press conference'.

The agenda of the press conference was to officially launch their "Lauréane Biville" tournament which is in it's 2nd edition and scheduled for June 2021.

The tournament was named after their godmother, the French international, Lauréane Biville.

In attendance were Paul Youmbi (Tournament president), Khalil Njoya (tournament manager), Ngatchien Geradine (Raiders Captain), Landy Manga (African women rugby league representative) & Crao (Cultural and Artistic).

Speaking with Khalil Njoya, Cameroon Rugby League Head coach and tournament Manager,  this is what he had to say;

"It was amazing to be able to hold such a conference for the tournament. This was bigger than we had expected and we thank all those involved.

This is the first big step towards making this tournament work and it was a big success.

Cameroon rugby league is still the number 1 place for rugby league in Africa and we want the world to share what we love and are able to achieve."

This year's Lauréane Biville tournament marks the place and vital role of young girls and women in sport in general and Rugby League in particular.

The Cameroon Rugby League XIII Association believes it is more crucial than ever to continue to build a platform to promote the role of female athletes, fans and administrators in Rugby League.

It's great to see what Cameroon Rugby League Federation is doing in relation to the development of Women's Rugby League. Hopefully other countries will join this mission.
